2020: A Year In Review

  • Published: 31 December 2020

2020 has without doubt been a year like no other. It’s a year many of us would like to forget, but it’s also a year for acknowledging and celebrating the small wins in what has undoubtedly been a testing time.

As 2020 draws to a close, we’ve reflected on the past 12 months and what a journey it’s been for us here at 67 Degrees. Whilst it has proved to be a challenging time, it has also been a year for growth as we welcomed four new starters to the team.

With the challenges faced by the automotive industry and car dealers across the country, we’ve worked closely with our customers to provide e-commerce solutions, which has enabled them to carry on trading throughout extended periods of lockdown.

But through the fire-fighting and late nights, has also emerged many exciting opportunities and projects this year too. Here we take a look at our highlights in what has been an unprecedented year...

February: Auto Industry Excellence Awards

The year got off to a flying start when six of our customers were announced as finalists in the annual Auto Industry Excellence Awards, having been nominated in the various categories, which included the Dealer Website Excellence Award.

Celebrating outstanding achievements in the motor trade, we were also excited to be involved as a sponsor this year. Due to the coronavirus outbreak, sadly the awards weren’t able to go ahead as planned, but we look forward to the event returning again in the near future.

March: Cheryl joins us as PR Manager

The start of spring signalled the first new member of the 67 Degrees team this year, when Cheryl joined us as PR Manager.

With the demand for PR and content services growing, Cheryl brings with her a wealth of experience and works with customers to deliver brand-led PR campaigns and creative content writing for websites.

August: Jo joins us as Key Account Manager

Summer saw the second new member of the team arrive this year, when Jo joined us as Key Account Manager. Jo has previously worked in the automotive industry for many years and was already a familiar face to some of our clients.

She is looking after a number of our customers by making visits to dealerships, assisting with requests and advising on best practises so that customers can get the most out of the services we offer.

September: Lauren joins us as Social Media Executive

Autumn brought with it another new arrival to 67 Degrees, when Lauren joined the team as Social Media Executive. Working alongside Social Media Exec, Natalie, Lauren is looking after the day-to-day running of our customers social media accounts, with a great deal of experience behind her.

Lauren’s creativity and design skills are ensuring that dealers' social accounts stand out from the crowd, specialising in both organic and paid social campaigns.

September: CarDealer Power Awards

September also welcomed the annual CarDealer Power Awards, when we were crowned winners of the coveted Website Provider for Independent Dealers award for the third year in a row!

Held virtually this year due to the coronavirus pandemic, the awards recognises the best suppliers and car manufacturers which are voted for by the dealers themselves. James Baggott, Founder of Car Dealer Magazine and organiser of the awards, had this to say about us:

“With physical showrooms closed, dealers up and down the country turned to their websites to keep their businesses running. It was the website designers that burned the midnight oil to get them up-and-running when they needed it most.

“Our winner is a small firm with big ambitions and a fantastic reputation; their clients couldn’t praise them highly enough - the winner is 67 Degrees!” It was a fantastic moment for us and we couldn’t have said it better ourselves. Read more about the awards here.

October: Ruben joins us as Front End Web Developer

October saw our fourth new arrival of the year, when Ruben joined us as Front End Web Developer. Working alongside Justin and our web development team, Ruben is creating visually exciting and impactful websites for our customers.

He has many years of website design experience behind him and we are very excited about expanding this side of our business as we welcome more customers to the 67 Degrees family.

October: EV specialist R Symons LTD joins the 67 Degrees family

Autumn saw us welcome our first EV specialist customer to the family when we went live with a brand new website for R Symons LTD. Specialising in the sale of electric vehicles, R Symons is one of the original independent retail specialists in this ever-expanding market.

Here’s what they had to say: “We chose 67 Degrees for our website redesign and they’ve been nothing short of amazing throughout the whole process! From the initial consultation and discussion on design ideas, right through to now managing our website and helping us keep the content up-to-date.” Find out more here.

November: Motor Trader Independent Dealer Awards

As we entered the second period of lockdown this year, the shortlist was announced for the annual Motor Trader Independent Dealer Awards, which saw many of our customers nominated for an award.

Congratulations to Premier GT and SW Car Supermarket who have both been shortlisted for Used Car Website of the Year, which we are absolutely delighted about. Read more about the awards here.

December: The Virtual Business Awards Sussex

Before the year comes to a close, December had one more treat up its sleeve for us, when we were announced as a finalist in the inaugural Virtual Business Awards Sussex

We were over the moon to be shortlisted for the Sussex Success Story award which recognises a business in Sussex that has served as an inspiration and achieved or celebrated a significant milestone, despite it being a very difficult year. Read more about the awards here.

So what’s next?

Whilst it wasn’t the year many of us had in mind, we can look back over the past 12 months and give ourselves a real pat-on-the-back for what we’ve achieved despite the odds.

67 Degrees is growing from strength-to-strength and we have many more exciting things to look forward to in 2021 as we continue to expand our team. There’s also some fantastic projects in the pipeline which we can’t wait to see the light of day.

Of course we couldn't do it without the fantastic support of our customers, family and friends, so thank you for being part of our journey this year. From all of us here at 67 Degrees, we wish you a very happy New Year - see you in 2021!
