If touring the UK (or even the world) with the freedom of pitching up and spending the night in a luxury caravan sounds like heaven to you, then the Tamar Caravan Centre website is the candy shop that your inner child has been looking for; and we should know – we built it!
Based in Plymouth, Devon, the Tamar team operates from a large, well-appointed indoor showroom, selling new and used caravans manufactured by market leaders Swift, and maintaining their customer’s caravans in their 8-bay workshop. We’re thrilled to say that they chose 67 Degrees for their new website, which was recently launched by our team.
To work with Tamar Caravan Centre on an updated online presence was very exciting indeed; they’re popular and well-respected not only by their customers but by industry peers too. What this bespoke website gave us a chance to do was fully flex our leisure vehicle muscle; it’s not just car and motorbike dealers that we’re able to upgrade online.
What Tamar Caravan Centre were looking for was a home page with an impact that echoed through the rest of their site, which is why they opted for our fully bespoke option, which sees every page get the personal treatment.
A full-width video was on the cards, something that the team had spotted on other websites in our portfolio and wanted to make work for their brand too. A 2×2 results page was chosen to put the spotlight firmly on both new and used stock, and, of course, the whole design needed to be on-brand.
From cars to caravans
With the majority of our work focusing on car dealers so far in our 7 years of designing and building websites in the automotive industry (has it really been that long?) you’d be forgiven for thinking that’s all we were able to do. However, the Tamar team saw what we were capable of, and were delighted to learn that our expertise can be extrapolated to other vehicles too.
We’re proud of our feed integrations that make stock management across DMS providers fit seamlessly with a 67 Degrees website. Just as we set up feeds for cars, we’ve made it possible for caravans too, integrating with Catalyst, the specialist DMS provider through which Tamar manages their stock, so that the team don’t have to duplicate entries.
Large site? No problem!
As a well-established business offering not only a great many caravans but also many types of servicing and accessories too, the existing site did, understandably, have a large footprint. What we needed to do was design and build a site capable of accommodating a large amount of content, both on the page, and in terms of blog and video content, something Tamar is all over!
The finished product contains well-laid-out pages that allow for all the content to have a place without overcrowding, drawing attention to important information and calls to action just as any good website should.
Bespoke caravan listings
A bespoke design calls for special vehicle listings, something our front-end development team got stuck into. As with cars, images of a caravan are all important, but so too is the floorplan – after all, you get floor plans of a home, and a caravan is simply your home on wheels!
Attention is now naturally drawn not only to the visual elements of each caravan, but the vital credentials too, such as berth, weight, length and significant features. Getting all the information in one glance like this makes such a difference to the customer journey.
Another Reserve Online lover
Talking of a good customer journey, who doesn’t like to stake their claim on something they love online so that nobody pips them to the post? This is exactly what Tamar customers can now do thanks to our Reserve Online plugin.
For a refundable deposit that Tamar can choose, customers are able to reserve a caravan, which holds it off sale for 48 hours in order for them to visit their showroom, fully inspect and view the vehicle before making their final decision.
