New Car Quay Website Enhances Customer Experience

March 28, 2022

Derby-based used car dealership has received the 67 Degrees treatment

Every website we work on is special, and Derby-based dealership Car Quay was keen to get a taste of the 67 Degrees treatment for their own site. Having previously met us at industry award nights and charity event ‘Bangers4Ben’, they knew our businesses would prove a perfect fit.

Car Quay owner, Jamie Caple, explained: “We were in the throes of looking for a website provider and always felt like we wanted to partner with 67 Degrees, due to the wonderful reputation they are forging in the industry. I saw a lot about the website agency on my social media and when I looked at our competitors’ websites, I realised they were 67 Degrees designs and in my opinion, were head and shoulders above the rest.”

A website for a multi-award-winner

Car Quay sells quality used cars teamed with outstanding service from their marina-based dealership, stocking up to 200 vehicles at any one time. Jamie was keen to showcase their preloved stock to the fullest, whilst enhancing the online buying experience for customers. A well-known and much-loved personality in the industry, he is hugely passionate about his business, having built a loyal following on social media.

67 Degrees dev superstar, Sean Wiltshire, worked on the new Car Quay website and explains more about the process. He said: “To reflect the personable approach of Car Quay, we introduced friendly tones throughout the site – such as the rounded edges of the text – as well as displaying a full width video on the homepage. After drawing up design inspirations and developing an initial wireframe, we then progressed into a digital design. From there, we are able to build the website and really take it to the next level.”

It is a website that truly reflects everything Car Quay promises to be; its purpose is to enhance the customer experience in every aspect of the business. With so much personality between Jamie and his team (including Ian the cat!), it was important that this be emphasised throughout the site from the moment a user lands on the homepage.

It goes without saying that selling stock is a priority for any used car dealership, and of course, Car Quay is no different. Cars and commercial vehicles are presented in an eye-pleasing dynamic grid format to promote each piece of stock to the fullest. Responsive elements are supported by subtle animation that helps lure the customer to click on a particular vehicle, whilst integrated video enables the user to see a car in action.

It’s a website that’s easy to navigate, providing a seamless user experience where customers can engage in live chat, communicate via WhatsApp, and reserve a vehicle online too. All in all, we think it’s pretty special!

Jamie and the team are in agreement too. He explains how their new website has already improved customer engagement and in turn, revenue: “We think you’ve delivered a fantastic website for us, which accurately represents the experience a customer will have. We’ve noticed categorically that as a business, our finance penetrations have increased, which started to happen as the new site rolled out.”

In this day and age, e-commerce solutions should be a big part of any dealer’s website. This isn’t a function that the previous Car Quay website had – so the idea was initially met with some hesitation – which has quickly become a positive move and much-needed addition to the site.

Commenting on the integration of our Reserve Online e-commerce solution, Jamie said: “So the day after the new website went live, we literally walked into the business the next morning with five deals in essence already done. It’s absolutely amazing – the best feeling!”

A shared vision and synergy

The new website cements an exciting time for Car Quay as the company continues to grow. Praising his new website, Jamie said: “There’s loads of reasons why we’ve enjoyed dealing with 67 Degrees and the people who work there – one being we feel they’re part of our business too. There’s a friendship, synergy and a shared vision about what we’re trying to achieve. They’ve turned our vision into a reality and we’re really pleased with the results.”

He added: “We told you what we wanted and digitally you created it – better than we could have hoped! Any dealer out there currently with a motor trade website who is considering where to go next – whether they want to stick with who they’ve got, or whether they want to explore other options – honestly, I cannot recommend 67 Degrees to them highly enough.”

Car Quay holds an incredible reputation in the industry and Jamie is testament to that. They are a dealership offering exceptional service and go above and beyond for their customers – an attribute we are very passionate about ourselves.

The company is quite rightly receiving plenty of recognition in the industry, celebrating a big win at the Used Car Awards in November 2021. Jamie was awarded Dealers’ Dealer of the Year, having been nominated and voted for by fellow peers in the industry.

He was pitted against some titans of the industry, which no doubt makes his win all the more rewarding. A real driving force in ensuring the success of not only his business, but the used car industry as a whole, it’s already been an absolute joy to work with Jamie and the team.
